Product Features
- Composed of oil-impregnated graphite asbestos, this packing has good resilience and excellent lubricity, making it a general-purpose sealing solution suitable for dynamic sealing applications such as pumps and valves (especially suitable for boiler feed).
- With a precise square section of 0.24in×0.24in (6×6mm), it fits accurately into compatible equipment, guaranteeing optimal sealing performance.
- Each roll has a length of approximately 126 meters (413.4ft) and a net weight of 5kg (11.02lb), providing a substantial quantity that is ideal for multiple sealing applications in various industries.
- It can withstand temperatures up to around 350°C, making it suitable for use in high-heat environments without compromising sealing efficiency.
- It is made by impregnating asbestos yarn (or metal asbestos yarn) with lubricating oil and coating it with graphite, then weaving or twisting. It can be produced as steel wire (or copper wire, stainless steel wire) lead powder oil-impregnated asbestos packing according to working conditions, offering flexibility for different requirements.
Usage Instructions
- Ensure the equipment (pumps, valves, rotating shafts) is shut down and isolated from all power sources before beginning the installation process.
- Remove the old packing (if present) and thoroughly clean the packing chamber to remove any debris, residue, or old sealing material.
- Cut the UNITEX oil-impregnated graphite asbestos packing to the required length, ensuring clean, square cuts for optimal sealing. Use appropriate tools suitable for cutting this composite material.
- Install the packing into the packing chamber, layer by layer, ensuring each layer is properly seated and aligned. For square section packing, ensure the corners fit snugly into the chamber.
- Adjust the packing gland to achieve the desired sealing tightness. Take advantage of the packing’s good resilience and lubricity to balance sealing efficiency and friction levels. Avoid over-tightening, which could affect its performance.
- After installation, conduct a leak test under operating conditions. Monitor the seal for any signs of leakage or abnormal operation. Adjust the gland as necessary during initial operation, especially when dealing with high-temperature media like steam.
Applicable Scenarios
- Rotating Shafts and Reciprocating Pistons in Petroleum and Chemical Industries
- Valve Stems in Machinery and Road Construction Equipment
- Equipment Handling Steam, Air, Industrial Water, and Heavy Petroleum Products
